With regard to the latest version of the cash Management Software installed earlier this year, I thought it would be useful to update you on the progress we have made to date.
Whilst we are continually working together to enhance the system, the initial signs are very promising. I have recently been contacted by our cash carrier, who wished to identify the reason for a reduction in cash deliveries in comparison to prior years. The reduction in cash deliveries is as a direct result of the cash management system optimising the cash deliveries to branches by comparing the increasing unit prices charged by Securitas against the falling cost of holding cash.
Yet again I am pleased to say that Cash Management Systems have succeeded in helping Northern Rock achieve real cost savings. These savings combined with the saving made with your assistance in identifying a new cash supplier through tire invitation to tender, have contributed in Northern Rock's objective of maintaining its enviable low cost base.
