Andrea Donafee Invited As Guest of Honour — July 2010

Andrea Donafee, Managing Director of CMS, was invited as a Guest of Honour to the University of Bedfordshire for this year’s Graduation Ceremony on Friday 23 July 2010. Andrea delivered a speech to the students graduating from the same institution where she completed her own PHD in maths and computer science in 2003. Professor Lee Ebdon, the Vice Chancellor of the University, remarked how Andrea’s participation ‘was much appreciated’, adding ‘that the students felt that your speech was particularly appropriate for their circumstances’.

The graduation ceremony topped off a special week for Andrea in relation to her alma mater, following a graduate awards evening at the University on Monday. Here Andrea was pronounced the winner of the Graduate of the Year Award, worth £15,000. The prize came as an acknowledgement of ‘demonstrating outstanding career progression in the seven years since graduation’ specifically within the fields of computing or technology. Andrea will keep half the prize, and donate the other half to an area of support of her choosing within the University.
